Ever since taking a hand drawn type design course at Cooper Union's Continuing Ed program, I have tremendous respect for the original, non-digital process of drawing and designing type. Letterpress is hugely popular, but few know about the work that goes into cutting the metal letters that are inked and pressed into paper.
A new documentary, Making Faces: Jim Rimmer, captured Jim's work as he designed, drew and cut the metal type face, RTF Stern (which he release simultaneously in digital type, pictured below, courtesy of Font Shop).
