puff : by william wondrisika
As a huge fan of children's books, I've been following the blog Curious Pages, subtitled "recommended inappropriate books for kids." Inappropriate sounds like trouble -- but it's really not. The blog is rather a treasure trove of quirky, sometimes dark, strange and aptly-described curious books written for children but interesting for adults, many of which I've never heard of.
Puff, written and illustrated by William Wondrisika (and published by Pantheon) in 1960, was just featured on the site for the strength of its graphic design in both the illustrations and type. Great stuff!
