ode to winter : SNOGA
In the midst of this snowy morning, I thought I'd share photos from last weekend's annual event and ode to winter, SNOGA. This was the fifth annual occurence of a very important tradition that takes place in New Hampshire's White Mountains at the Adirondack Mountain Club's Highland Center Lodge at Crawford Notch.
The attendees include roughly two dozen women, some actual and many almost family. Aunts, cousins, sister, mother, dear friends of mother and friends of mother's dear friend. It is an active, restorative weekend so very different from any other weekend in my year, set in a quiet expanse of snow and pine.
We alternate between yoga classes, hearty meals, snowshoe hikes up Mt Willard, silent meditation walks at sunrise, some impromptu dancing and fireside gabbing. There is also always the can't-miss stop for a dose of classic Americana, TJ's Lunch Counter in Wells River, which I've included pics of below.
