a paperfinger menu : for a home state plate

paperfinger-homestateplate-02 I was honored to contribute to and participate in a summer feast in late August, called "Home State Plate." Our hostess, Elizabeth Griffin, is a talented writer and photographer and a good friend. Her goal was to create a meal for a dozen friends with food and drink sourced only from within the boundaries of New York State.

Even the calligraphy was locally grown -- I created the menu pictured above, which was placed at each seat listing the various dishes in one of my hand-drawn styles along with a computer typeface description of the farm and source.

Elizabeth recently published an article on The Daily Green about the process of organizing this spectacular dinner. All photographs by Gloria Dawson of The Daily Green.



It was a delicious meal and even more rewarding knowing where each element came from. Here I am with a plate full of home state goodies, pictured below:
