sustainable fashion : the uniform project
Sheena Matheiken, a Brooklyn resident and fashion designer, kicked off The Uniform Project this May.
Along with fellow designer, Eliza Starbuck, Sheena designed a dress to wear every day for one year. And she's hoping to generate more than just buzz. The Uniform Project is also a one-year fundraiser for the Akankasha Foundation's School Project in India, which runs learning centers for children of the slums and works on education reform. She invites any visitors to her site to make a donation.
Sheena has seven identical copies of the dress for each day of the week and each day, she creates a new (and often adorable) look with accessories and layers (that are all vintage or upcycled from flea markets and thrift stores.).
