life is grand : on the high line
Last Saturday I made my first visit to The High Line, the latest and greatest thing to happen to Manhattan. It is all it's cracked up to be and even better -- an incredible achievement and a huge gift to our city. The designers and team behind it did a tremendous job restoring this old, elevated train track into a promenade / a park / a great way to walk downtown or uptown on the West side / a retreat. The plantings evoke a natural, meadow-like feel while the architecture and vistas make it a distinctly urban space. The section from Gansevoort to 20th Street is now open; with additional sections north of 20th Street opening in stages.

P.S. You can get married up here! I don't know how much it costs but private events are available.
