paperfinger storefront window calligraphy at 303GRAND in williamsburg, brooklyn
This Thursday, June 4th kicks off a month-long wedding series hosted at 303GRAND, a "revolving storefront" on Grand Street in central Williamsburg, Brooklyn. For all of June, they are hosting The Brooklyn Pop-up Wedding Shop.
Yesterday, I created a custom, hand-drawn window sign for the event, taking Paperfinger calligraphy to a whole new scale.
The cool folks at 303GRAND are collaborating with Martha Stewart Weddings, The Wedding Library and Brooklyn Bride. Each week, the space will be transformed to host a whole new series of wedding vendors, designers and products. You can find the complete schedule and vendors list at www.brooklynchapel.com. The final three days (June 25-28), 303GRAND will be converted into "The Martha Stewart Weddings Pop-up Chapel" and ten Brooklyn couples will be married there!
Creating the sign was a fun process and Ruth and Aaron of 303GRAND were great to work with. I started by drawing the sign on paper with black marker so that I could trace the letters from the inside when doing the actual painting. Some photos below capture moments throughout my afternoon's work.
I encourage you to make a visit to the shop sometime this June!
